EAGAN, Minn. - Police say the masked man that was killed by a security guard Monday worked for the same security company.

Officers in Eagan were dispatched to the 900 block of Aldrin Drive just after midnight Monday when a security guard called 911 to report he shot a person who was trying to rob him.

On arrival, officers found 25-year-old Davon O'Keith Wiley dead from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the Aldrin Building. An Eagan Police spokesman says Wiley was wearing a mask, which supports the security guard's story that he was working at what is described as a moving company of sorts when he was attacked by a man with a gun. The guard told officers that he fought back, and during the altercation shot and killed his attacker.

On Friday, the guard was identified as Young Matthew Vang. Vang is employed by Mill City Protective Agency, as a security officer. Wiley has also been identified as an employee of Mill City Protective Agency but was not on duty at the time of the shooting.

Vang suffered minor injuries in the altercation. He was not taken to the hospital.

Investigators say the Aldrin building is a collection spot for Operation Christmas Child, and that the assailant may have been trying to steal donated items and money. Eagan Police have not officially confirmed this as a potential motive for the attack.
