CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A mother who was charged after a disturbance at a middle school is suing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Police arrested Olga Cortez last month after she confronted her son's alleged bullies at Coulwood Middle School. The situation escalated, and investigators said Cortez pulled out a knife.
Cortez claimed a staff member assaulted her, and the district failed to protect her son from bullying. Three teens were also charged in the incident.
As of Tuesday night, CMS had not provided NBC Charlotte with a response.
