STATESVILLE, N.C. -- A 25-year-old from Statesville has been identified as one of the victims in the Orlando shooting.
Family members confirmed to NBC Charlotte that Tevin Eugene Crosby was killed in the nightclub shooting in Orlando on Sunday.
He is from Statesville and attended West Iredell High School.
NBC Charlotte spoke to Crosby's brother Monday afternoon. He said is brother used to live in Florida, but was currently living in Michigan. His brother said he thought Crosby was Michigan, but after talking to his sister he learned he was in Florida. After repeated calls to Crosby's cell phone, family was concerned.
Family members reached out to friends in Florida and eventually got a hold of his girlfriend. She confirmed Crosby was at the Pulse Saturday night.
Crosby's parents got on a plane to Orlando and immediately began checking hospitals. For a while they thought maybe he was one of 12 patients going in and out of surgery, but Monday morning they received confirmation of Crosby's death.
Crosby's brother is 22-years-old and said he always looked up to his older brother. Crosby owned his own business.
