CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said a woman was carjacked in the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant in north Charlotte Wednesday night.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. at the McDonalds at 2518 Beatties Ford Road. CMPD told NBC Charlotte the victim was approached by a man who pointed a gun at her and demanded her car. The woman got out, and the man took off in her vehicle.

Officers later found the stolen vehicle and tried to pull over the suspect, but a chase began. Police said the suspect hit another car at Central Avenue and Rosehaven Drive before taking off again.

The pursuit ended in the parking lot of QT at Central Avenue and Sharon Amity Road. Investigators said three people ran from the car but were quickly detained.

20-year-old Gregory Fondren was charged with robbery, and two BB Guns were seized. The two other people who ran from the car were not charged.
