CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools parents who want to enter their children into the School Choice lottery will get their first opportunity on Monday, November 13.

The district said the program provides more students access to opportunities that match their unique interests, talents and potential.

Parents are advised to research the options and visit open houses to find the best fit for the 2018-2019 school year. Up to three schools can be selected in the online application. Student identification and PIN numbers are needed as well.

Families who are new to CMS need to enroll their kids with the student placement office by December 1. School Choice lottery applications are due December 18. A step-by-step process and additional information can be found by clicking on this link.

Notification letters telling parents their child's assignment will be sent out in early January.
