YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- If you've ever wanted to learn more about how county government works, you should sign up for York County 101 Citizens Academy in 2018.
Each session will tackle a variety of topics to give citizens an overview of departmental functions and operational procedures.
Here are the participating departments: Assessor, Auditor, Clerk of Court, Coroner, County Attorney, County Council/County Manager, Ebenezer Park, Fire Safety, Human Resources, Information Technology, Magistrate, Planning, Probate Court, Public Defender, Public Safety Communications, Public Works, Purchasing, Risk Management, Sheriff/Detention, Solicitor, Summer Feeding, Treasurer/Finance, Veteran's Affairs, and Voter Registration & Elections.
It's free to attend the 2018 academy which begins on February 22 and ends with graduation on November 5. Sessions are typically held at various locations on the fourth Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
You can register online or at the York County Manager's Office on South Congress Street in York, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The class will only hold 25 people. The 2017 academy was full.
