Megan Rapinoe will be among star-studded group at House of Soccer in uptown

Rapinoe has gotten quite a bit of national attention lately after the 2019 Women’s World Cup win. The soccer star will be in Charlotte Saturday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Megan Rapinoe will be in the Queen City for the House of Soccer on July 20, according to the Relevent Sports Group (RSG).

The 2019 House of Soccer Experience is expected to be a place for lifestyle, culture, music, and sports to come together at Romare Bearden park. It's hoped to provide an opportunity for fans to express their love of the game.

Rapinoe has gotten quite a bit of national attention lately after the 2019 Women’s World Cup win. She was awarded the FIFA Women’s World Cup Golden Ball, the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Player of the Match in 2019. She was the tournament's top scorer.

According to RSG, Carolina Courage Teammates and World Cup Champions Crystal Dunn (2019) and Heather O’Reilly (2015) will be at the House of Soccer events on Friday, July 19.

Also in attendance over the star-studded weekend, Charlotte Hornets Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller as well as UNC alumni and famous freestylers Indi and Skye Cowie.

In addition to all-things soccer at the event, each day's festivities will conclude with a free concert in uptown.

Charlotte is the only city hosting a House of Soccer this summer. But it doesn't stop there -- this House of Soccer kicks off a five-year historic deal to bring together Bank of America Stadium and RSG, as the International Champions Cup will be in the Queen City for the next five years.

The CEO of RSG, Daniel Sillman, provided a statement on Rapinoe's attendance, saying her performance in the World Cup was the stuff legends are made of.

“Yes, she performed at the highest level on the pitch, but her courage to stand up for her beliefs are an inspiration to millions and have inspired the next generation of US Soccer stars and her appearance at House of Soccer will make it an event fans will never forget," Sillman said.

While in Charlotte, Rapinoe will be hosting a skills training session with The Creative Player Foundation Saturday afternoon, and she'll be throwing the ceremonial coin toss ahead of the match.

“Events like House of Soccer are so important in helping to popularize the sport and encourage more people to watch and play,” Rapinoe said in a released statement. “I can’t wait to touch down in Charlotte and get a chance to celebrate soccer with the incredible fans in North Carolina.”

The International Champions Cup match between ACF Fiorentina and Arsenal will serve as the main event July 20. Fans are encouraged to cheer on both teams. Tickets for the event can be bought at ticketmaster.com.
