CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Tampa Bay defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will visit with the Carolina Panthers, a source told NBC Charlotte’s Kelsey Riggs.

McCoy was released by the Bucs after nine seasons, in which he racked up 54.5 sacks, went to six Pro Bowls and was first-team All-Pro in 2013.

The Panthers would welcome McCoy after finishing 27th in the NFL in sacks (35) in 2018.

Asked about McCoy on Tuesday, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said: “I think a guy with his ability could come in and help most certainly. We’ll have to see.”
