CHARLOTTE - Former Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart took to social media on Friday to thank Panthers fans just a few days after being released by the team.
Stewart, the franchise's all-time leading rusher said: "Thank you Carolina for an amazing 10 years! Grateful to God for the many blessings he's given me and my family through the panther organization and the Charlotte community! Thank you panther nation for all of the love over the years! I will always #KeepPounding."
Carolina cut Stewart on Wednesday as they look to get younger, faster, and save money towards the salary cap.
Between cutting Stewart, safety Kurt Coleman, and defensive end Charles Johnson, the team has saved about $10 million as it enters free agency, with an estimated $27 million in cap space.
