2 killed in crash on I-485 at Rea Road

Medic said two people were hurt and another was seriously injured after a crash at I-485 and Rea Road in south Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were killed and another was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 485 in south Charlotte Tuesday morning, officials said. 

Medic responded to a crash on the outer loop of I-45 at Rea Road (exit 59) a little before 9 a.m. Medic confirmed that two people were pronounced dead at the scene. A third person was rushed to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) said the ramp to Rea Road will be closed while troopers investigate the crash. The cause of the crash hasn't been determined at this time.
