CONCORD, N.C. — Concord Police are investigating a fatal single-car crash that happened early Sunday morning.
Police said around 3:36 a.m. on Interstate 85 South, exit ramp to Davidson Highway 27-year-old Deterrius Johnson of Orlando, Florida lost control of his car, struck a guard rail then a concrete median, causing the car to roll over.
Johnson was transported to Atrium Health Northeast where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash. 28-year-old Chad Galvan of South Daytona, Florida was a passenger in the car. Galvan was transported to Atrium Health Northeast for his injuries where he is expected to make a full recovery.
Concord Police report speed contributed to this crash, however, alcohol or drugs were not determined to be a factor in the crash.
