I-485 inner loop reopens in Ballantyne after truck carrying vegetable oil overturns

The interstate lanes from Ballantyne headed towards Pineville were closed for four hours Tuesday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All lanes of Interstate 485 inner loop between Ballantyne and Pineville have reopened after a truck carrying vegetable oil overturned Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after 1 p.m., emergency personnel responded to reports of a crash involving an overturned truck. Once on-scene, first responders found the truck had spilled vegetable oil on the roadway.

The crash had closed all lanes of the inner loop between Johnston Rd (Exit 61) and Pineville-Matthews Road / NC 51 (Exit  64).

A few minutes after 5 p.m., the lanes were reopened in time for the evening rush hour.
