CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three injured and one person is dead following a single-car crash on Brookshire Boulevard Sunday morning.

According to police, around 2:41 a.m. officers responded to a single-car accident involving a 2019 Audi Q5. 

After investigation police determined that the driver was going at a high rate of speed when the car left the roadway to the left, entered the grass median and flipped.

Police said the driver and the passengers were not wearing a seatbelt and were all ejected from the car. Medic pronounced 21-year-old Keon Lanier dead on the scene and the others were transported to the hospital, two of which are in critical condition.

Police determined excessive speed was a contributing factor to the crash and drug use is suspected.
