Man dies after being struck by lightning in Chester County

According to the National Weather Service, Chester County had a Tornado Warning until 7:15 p.m. Monday.

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A person has died after being struck by lightning Tuesday evening. They were rushed for medical treatment with life-threatening injuries, but the Chester County Coroner confirms they have since died.  

It happened near York Street in Chester County.

Chester County coroner identified the victim struck and killed by lightning as 32-year-old Sirmorio Davis. 

It's not known if Davis was inside or outside at the time. Further information on the incident has not been released. 

According to the National Weather Service, Chester County had a Tornado Warning until 7:15 p.m. Monday followed by a Severe Thunderstorm warning until about 8:30 p.m.

WCNC Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich was tracking the latest severe weather threats as they moved through the region.
