CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon is one of many in Charlotte contributing to the GivingTuesdayCLT campaign to raise $8 million.
Giving Tuesday is this week and people across Charlotte are getting involved in the local effort.
More than 170 local non-profits have spent the last two weeks in a big campaign to try to raise 8 million dollars in donations and volunteer efforts.
Jeff Gordon's Children's Foundation that helps fight pediatric cancer is one of the local non-profits eager to help the cause.
The champion NASCAR driver told NBC Charlotte that he's excited to be a part of such an important local effort.
“We see the holidays coming up... possibly saves lives…,” Gordon told NBC Charlotte.
You still have time to be a part of the campaign, it runs until midnight Tuesday night.
Last year they raised 4 million in two weeks and this year they’re trying to double it.
