CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some popular South End eateries and a brewery made the restaurant report card this week.

Each week, NBC Charlotte combs through the health inspection reports, looking at the violations of Charlotte’s popular breakfast, lunch and dinner places.

To start with, Bedder Bedder and Moore is packed at lunchtime. But this week, they got a 90 because of critical food safety violations.

First up, and in the red, an employee was seen eating fries then handling food without changing gloves or washing hands, a big no-no. Another employee was using bare hands to make wraps, an even bigger no-no.

Hot food should be holding above 135 degrees, but the taco meat was holding at 85 degrees. The chicken breast was only at 126. Both were reheated. Bedder Bedder and Moore got the lowest “A”.

Tavern on the Tracks also got a 90 this week. Their ice machines had pink and black residue. That was a repeat violation. Their hot meatballs were supposed to be 135 degrees or above, but they were just 110 degrees. The top layer was tossed out.

The cold foods have to be colder than 45 degrees, but one reach in cooler was 60 degrees and the other was 50 degrees. Salad dressings, cole slaw, cheese, tomato, lettuce and ham were all tossed out.
