CHARLOTTE -- You were wrong if you thought Garinger's basketball coach on Friday night looked exactly like former Duke star Christian Laettner.
Because it was Christian Laettner.
The Blue Devils great spent the week with the Wildcats for an upcoming documentary series, culminating with a Friday night on the sidelines during the team's victory over rival East Mecklenburg.
"I can retire now," he said. "I'm 1-0."
For Laettner, who shared the sideline with head coach Jordan Yawn, it was more than the fundamentals, it was body language.
"How much fun they're having out there on the court," he said. "I feel like my job here is done. The difference between their body language on Tuesday night compared to their body language here tonight, was a 180 degree difference."
