CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Hornets announced Tuesday that they will not extend the contract of general manager Rich Cho, and will immediately begin the search for a new G.M.

Cho joined the organization prior to the 2011-12 season. He assumed day-to-day responsibilities of basketball operations on June 13, 2014. Before joining the Hornets organization, Cho worked in the front offices of Portland and Oklahoma City.

“I want to thank Rich for all of his hard work with the Charlotte Hornets organization through the years and wish him and his family the best in the future,” said Hornets Chairman Michael Jordan. “Rich worked tirelessly on behalf of our team and instituted a number of management tools that have benefited our organization. We are deeply committed to our fans and to the city of Charlotte to provide a consistent winner on the court. The search will now begin for our next head of basketball operations who will help us achieve that goal.”

At the All-Star break, the Hornets stand at 24-33 overall, 5.5 games behind Miami for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
