CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich joined WCNC Charlotte in 2003.
Ever since then, he's been deeply involved in the community, helping increase the area's Weather IQ. If you've ever met him, you know weather is legitimately his favorite topic of conversation.
In 2018, the "Fanovich" campaign was born. It started with a group of moms as a way to thank Brad for working around the clock to keep the community safe and informed during Hurricane Florence. T-shirts were sold to benefit Hurricane Florence victims and $37,000 was donated to various nonprofits. If you've ever seen a "I'm A Fanovich" T-shirt at the grocery store, that's what it came from.
Now, WCNC Charlotte wants to take that idea and build on it.

WCNC Charlotte is now selling "I'm A Fanovich" T-shirts to benefit TreesCharlotte, a nonprofit Brad is extremely passionate about. TreesCharlotte recently released a Tree Canopy Assessment study that shows Charlotte maintains a 47.6% tree canopy coverage which is impressive, but it is in the city of Charlotte's goals to achieve a 50% canopy coverage by the year 2050. With all of the proceeds of the T-shirt sale going to TreesCharlotte, which works tirelessly to grow and diversify Charlotte's urban forest and promote tree stewardship and education, you can help improve the city's tree canopy.
