Mecklenburg County sheriff opposes bill that would require cooperation with ICE

A bill heading to North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper's desk would require sheriffs across the state to check the immigration status of everyone they arrest, and potentially holding them in jail for ICE. Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden has been a vocal opponent of the bill, saying it's a "dangerous experiment" playing politics with public safety.
