UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- Five puppies have a new leash on life thanks to a good Samaritan in Union County.
A woman found the dogs on the side of the road in a ditch and contacted the Humane Society of Union County who posted the story on Facebook Friday.
The pups were sick, covered in mange with their eyes swollen shut.
Staff at the shelter took in the dogs, gave them baths and made sure they got the care they needed. You may check with the humane society for updates on adoption opportunities.
By the way, Friday was National Puppy Day, quite the lucky one for these pups.
