14-year-old girl reported missing for months found

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing 14-year-old girl.

According to CMPD, Nakia Williams was last seen by her family in September 2017. Williams was last seen in the 6100 block of Balsam Fir Drive in Charlotte, CMPD says.

Williams is described as a black girl with brown eyes and black hair. Officials list her at 5-foot-3 and weighs about 110 pounds.

CMPD says they have received local sighting reports of Williams over the course of her disappearance. Georgia law enforcement officials told CMPD that Williams has been seen in the area of Emanuel County, Ga., and that she may be staying at an unknown location in Toombs County, Ga.

Anyone with information on the missing teen is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

UPDATE: CMPD said Williams was found Tuesday, February 13. Officers were working to reunite her with her family.
