CATS bus involved in head-on collision near uptown

CMPD told NBC Charlotte the driver of the car will be charged with DUI.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police charged a man with DUI after a head-on crash involving a CATS bus near uptown Tuesday night.

CMPD officers responded to a crash at Oaklawn Avenue and Mulberry Avenue around 10 p.m. Detectives said the CATS bus and a car collided. Photos also showed that a pickup truck appeared to have rear-ended the bus.

Authorities told NBC Charlotte that the driver of the car and two bus passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries that aren't considered life-threatening. The driver of the car, who has not been identified, will be charged with DUI, police said.
