Myers Park student named Charlotte 'Youth of the Year'

A Charlotte high school student was named Youth of the Year by the Salvation Army and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte high school student was named Youth of the Year by the Salvation Army and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Charlotte.

Myers Park senior Tatiana Aguilar receiving the honor at a prayer breakfast last week. The Youth of the Year goes to a student who embodies the core values the clubs represent.

Aguilar says the club has helped her achieve the honor.

“The support I’ve had at the club has helped me be more involved just in general, but I’ve been able to do all these different things with the club because I’ve been able to just help out and show leadership as well,” she said. “That’s helped me get to the point I’m at today.”

Tatiana will now compete in state competition to be eligible for scholarships and additional competitions regionally and nationally.
