Three charged for Statesville jewelry store robbery

STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Three suspects picked up by Hickory police for a jewelry store robbery there have been connected to a similar robbery in Statesville.

The three men, 22-year-old Justin Williams, 21-year-old Xavier Onwuka and 22-year-old Rashid Sita, were charged Thursday.

Williams was already behind bars at the Catawba County Detention Center. He is now charged with breaking and entering, felony larceny and larceny of a firearm in relation to the Statesville incident. His bond has increased to $30,000 for these charges.

The other two suspects face the same charges. Onwuka has an additional $20,000 attached to his bond and is also being held in the Catawba County Detention Center. Sita was given a $500,000 secured bond and was taken to Burke-Catawba Confinement facility.

One of the rifles stolen from Statesville Jewelry & Loan on Dec. 13 has been recovered, as well as some of the jewelry.
