CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a man with the murder of a 31-year-old man in southwest Charlotte.
Jeffrey Javon Boggs, 24, is charged with murder in connection with the death of 31-year-old Demarco Trayvon Pegues. Pegues was found shot to death inside a vehicle outside a Panera Bread in the 8100 block of South Tryon Street just before noon Thursday.
Detectives located Boggs at a hotel on Lucky Penny Street in Charlotte after obtaining a warrant for his arrest in connection with the shooting. CMPD hasn't determined the motive for Pegue's shooting, but investigators say the suspect and victim knew each other.
"Highly unusual for this area, very quiet complex from a police standpoint a crime standpoint," said Major Gerald Smith with CMPD.
Medic pronounced Pegues dead at the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
