Firefighters battle house fire in northeast Charlotte

Emergency crews are currently on the scene of a large house fire in northeast Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No one was hurt after a northeast Charlotte home caught fire early Thursday morning, officials said.

According to Charlotte Fire, firefighters responded to a reported house fire in the 6400 block of Treeline Place. When crews arrived, they saw heavy fire and smoke coming from a one-story home.

A woman living in the home was able to escape without injuries, firefighters said at the scene. The family said two cats were also able to get out safely.

It took a team of 27 firefighters just under 30 minutes to control the blaze, Charlotte Fire later tweeted. No injuries were reported during the fire. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.

"Our estimate initially is about $50,000 in damage," said one official with Charlotte Fire.

Firefighters said they faced several obstacles getting to the scene, including icy roads.
