Overturned tractor-trailer shuts down I-77 near uptown

All southbound lanes of I-77 just north of uptown are shut down after a tractor-trailer overturned early Tuesday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – All southbound lanes of I-77 just north of uptown are shut down after a tractor-trailer overturned early Tuesday.

According to NC Highway Patrol, the crash happened a little before 2 a.m. between La Salle Street and the Brookshire Freeway on I-77. State troopers at the scene said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

NCDOT expected the road to be reopened by 7 a.m., but it was still closed as of 7:05.

Drivers on I-77 south will be detoured onto La Salle Street before turning onto Beatties Ford Road. From there, motorists will return to I-77 via Brookshire Freeway. Drivers attempting to access I-77 from I-85 will take Exit 36 and follow Brookshire Freeway onto I-77 near uptown.
