Sheriff: Woman fired shots at Cleveland County deputy

Deputies in Cleveland County are searching for two people shots were fired at a deputy Tuesday afternoon.

CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. – Deputies in Cleveland County are searching for two people shots were fired at a deputy Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened in Boiling Springs when two narcotics undercover investigators were outside a home on College Avenue.

Deputies said that Brianne Sherrie Smith fired at the deputy after stepping out of a white Kia Soul. Police are also searching for Travis Lamar McKinney, who was identified as a resident at the home that was being investigated. Investigators said that McKinney got out of the vehicle before the shooting.

Anyone with information about this incident or the whereabouts of either suspect is asked to call the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
