Slightly cooler and drier air moves in Sunday

We'll "feel" much better to kick off the last full week of May!

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Sunday

It'll be another mostly cloudy start to the day with a few showers early. Eventually, conditions dry out by midday and we're looking ahead to a better afternoon! The NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway shouldn't have any issues by 8 p.m. Sunday as the front should be well to our south.

It'll be a slightly cooler day with highs reaching the mid 70s with lower humidity. Isolated rain lingers in the mountains this evening but don't expect any additional for the piedmont. Lows overnight fall to the upper 50s.

This Week

The first half of the week remains dry with highs only in the upper 70s and low 80s Monday and Tuesday. Eventually, a muggy and elevated storm pattern will return by mid-to-late week. It's still too early to know whether this trend continues through Memorial Day Weekend but at this point... all we can hope for is a better forecast than last year!

Wet Start to May

For the first two-and-a-half weeks of the month, it's been one of the top 3 wettest starts on record with almost seven inches of rain! We'll get a few dry days in this week with more rain potential on the way before the month is over.
