Daycare workers fired after slamming kids to the ground

Several recent reports of child abuse from North Carolina and across the country are serving as scary reminders of possible daycare dangers.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Several recent reports of child abuse from North Carolina and across the country are serving as scary reminders of possible daycare dangers.

On Friday, two daycare workers in South Dakota were arrested after police say surveillance video shows the two slamming children ages 3 to 4 years old to the ground, yanking them by their arms and stomping on them.

“While he was sleeping, the employee had banged his head on the mat,” South Dakota police said.

If you’re looking for a daycare, make sure you check to see if it’s a licensed center. You can click here and type in the name of the daycare to double check.

Several moms at Romare Bearden Park shared horror stories on Tuesday.

“Finding a daycare or childcare is one of the most frustrating or scary things as a mom,” Tia Smith told NBC Charlotte.

And after hearing the recent report in South Dakota and here in Lincoln County, they are willing to risk it.

“I would not put her in daycare,” Smith added.
