Hickory man dies in Tuesday morning house fire, officials say

The fire happened on Valley Run Street in Hickory.

HICKORY, N.C. — A Hickory man is dead from a house fire that happened early Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday, Grace Chapel Fire Department responded to a home on Valley Run Street, where they encountered heavy fire coming from the house. Inside the home, smoke had dropped to the floor level.

Emergency responders quickly began an aggressive search and worked to put out the fire. They located a 77-year-old man, who had died from injuries sustained from the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating this incident.
