CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Colin Mayfield loves telling stories - to his three children, wife, or to the wonderful viewers throughout the Charlotte area.

Colin joined the dynamic team at WCNC Charlotte, which exudes experience and momentum, to solidify the station as a place for Charlotteans to go for news, weather and sports.

Colin’s lived in Charlotte for quite some time after coming from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he co-anchored the morning and noon news Monday through Friday. Prior to that, Colin spent time in Louisville, Kentucky, but started his career at WSAW in his home state of Wisconsin after graduating. Colin graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2012 and holds a degree in Broadcast Media and Marketing. Wisconsin is the place where he picked up many hobbies to get through the winter months.

When it comes to stories Colin loves chasing down the lead story or gathering multiple elements for an enterprising piece. While he loves finding the news just about anywhere, economic and health news carries a special interest for Colin. He enjoys being out in the community, leveraging his position to gather stories, and he believes viewers are the best sources of information.

Colin spends his free time being active and outside. First and foremost, he couldn’t do anything without God being his compass in life. An avid sports lover, Colin enjoys football, basketball, racing, golf and has been known to hit the slopes or grab the handlebars of a good snowmobile. He's a sucker for a nice race car and is still working on getting to his first Formula 1 circuit. IndyCar and NASCAR also get his blood pumping.

Colin strongly believes in investing in the local community both by doing the work at WCNC but also serving any way he can on the ground within Charlotte. He has a special interest in lending his time to emcee events to help raise money for important causes or to help an organization in any way he can. In Cincinnati, Colin worked through his nonprofit to build an entrepreneur program in the public school system that helped rejuvenate the local ecosystem of start-ups. He gives God the glory for the ability and opportunity to "get" to do this job. Colin looks forward to getting more involved in the Charlotte community in the years to come. If you see him, stop him for a chat or send him a tip to follow.
