Chris Mulcahy is the Morning Traffic Anchor and Midday Meteorologist for WCNC Charlotte. He has wanted to be the weatherman since he was 6 years old and the first book, he checked out of the library was “Thunderstorms for Kids."
Chris graduated from Florida State University and headed to Sioux City, Iowa, to start his to kick-start his weather career with their active storm season. He then worked for WRGT/WKEF in Dayton, Ohio, as the Weekend Meteorologist and Feature Reporter and soon became the Morning Meteorologist and was known for his personable forecasts.
It was in Dayton, Ohio that Chris met his wonderful wife Kimmie. The couple got married in 2020 here in Union County, North Carolina. They have a dog named Juliette who has her own Instagram account (juju_fromtheblock) that she “of course” updates on her own. Juliette found her Romeo here in Charlotte when the couple found him wandering the streets without a home in 2019.
Chris spent two years at WJRT in Flint, Michigan, as the noon and 4 p.m. Meteorologist where he was nominated for a “Best Weather Anchor” Emmy and won an AP Award for “Best Weather Forecast."
In his spare time, Chris loves to play guitar and write songs. He also loves to write rhyming Children’s books and has one published called “Have You Ever Heard of a Dweazle!?”. He is hoping to publish more soon.
Chris’ favorite thing to do is entertain people. If he can make you smile or laugh, it has been a successful day! He hopes to bring that smile to you every morning and afternoon he is on air or if he ever sees you out around the Charlotte area! He loves it here in Charlotte and hopes to be #Yourweatherman for many years to come.
