Media Mayhem school bus race highlights Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Stripped out school buses, wheel-to-wheel action and a whole lot of fun for under $10. What's not to like?

CONCORD, N.C. — Rev your engines and get ready: The Bojangles' Summer Shootout is back at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The series continues Tuesday with the Media Mayhem school bus race. And it's as wild as the name implies. Multiple members of the Charlotte media will race old, stripped-out school buses around the quarter-mile legends oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

And whoever prevails will bring home a trophy the U.S. women's soccer team would kill to have. OK, probably not. But it's still the most fun you can have for less than $10 on a Tuesday night, for sure.

"You haven't lived when you're coming to a motorsports event until you see six of these giant school buses wheel around a quarter-mile frontstretch," said Scott Cooper, Vice President of Communications at CMS.

The Bojangles' Summer Shootout is a family friendly racing series that runs from June through July at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It features weekly school bus races, legends cars and more.

Adult tickets are $8, kids 13 and under get in free. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the racing begins at 7 p.m.

"I love Buzz and Woody but we're a better bargain than going to the theater," Cooper joked.
