Monroe High School student gets a perfect score on his standardized test

Only 0.195% of test takers achieve this!

MONROE, N.C. — Congrats, Jacob!

Monroe High School announced one of their students, Jacob Parker, got a perfect score on his standardized test.

According to Monroe High, only 0.195% of test takers achieve this and one of their own Redhawks, earned the elusive 36!

"I've always been good on standardized tests and a little bit of luck," Parker said.

A perfect score on a standardized test is an accomplishment worth celebrating; only 0.195% of test takers achieve this. One of our own Redhawks, Jacob Parker, bested the test earning the elusive 36!...

Parker is currently exploring his options, focusing on Davidson College and UC Berkeley, Monroe High reports.

He said some sections of the test were geared towards his interests, but he wasn't expecting to get a 36.

"I was amazed, I didn't think I'd do so well and I'm really happy about it," he says.

Parker says it's his love of learning that led to this moment.

"I made sure to study a lot," he said of his test prep.

Monroe High School Principal Christopher Kelly said the entire community is proud of Parker. It's the first time in school history this has happened. He hopes other students will be inspired.

"He's going to continue to work hard to get and achieve his dreams and goals," Kelly said.

Parker had some words of encouragement pass on to other students.

"What every student should know is you should be prepared," he said. "You should study hard and if you do, you can certainly make at least a 30."

An extraordinary academic achievement for a star student, making his school a little brighter.

He has one year to go at Monroe High with plans to someday be an astrophysicist. Those who know him say the sky is the limit.

"He is considering studying astrophysics, chemistry, or political science, but with a perfect score, his options are limitless," Monroe High wrote.

Best of luck in the future, Jacob!
