Carolina hospitals welcome first babies born in 2019

Both of Charlotte's largest hospitals celebrated the births of New Year's babies on Tuesday.

The staff at Novant Health Medical Center in Huntersville welcomed the year's first baby early Tuesday. 

Kelly Burke, the 21-inch long baby girl who weighed in at 8 pounds and 1 ounce, was delivered just before 4 a.m. on New Year's Day. Kelly is the second child of Kevin and Rachel Burke of Huntersville. They also have a 13-month-old daughter.

At Atrium Health University City, Kennedi Honesty Davis was born at 12:41 a.m. weighing 6 pounds 14 ounces. This is the first child for Ranisha and Kenny Davis. They are thrilled to introduce their baby girl to the world.

"We're just excited to have baby Kennedi here." said mom Ranisha. "I feel great, just a little tired."
