Woman boxed in by hundreds of packages after Target.com order misses the mark

Months after a vendor started sending Kelly Witter other people's orders, Target is still trying to fix the issue.

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. — The last week has been a blur of emotions for Kelly Witter.

"Do I have box rage?" she said. "I do now."

When she returned to her White Bear Lake apartment on Monday, after a weekend away, she was greeted by stacks and stacks of packages she didn't order... or pay for.

"When you come home to find 133 boxes stacked up in your hallway, it's a little overwhelming," she said. "It's a nuisance."

For Witter, it's a nuisance that's been unresolved for a year now.

"I went on Target.com and I ordered one pair of glasses from this company," Witter said.

That company, ICU Eyewear, is a vendor that sells reading glasses through Target.com.

Though Kelly did place that initial order, the next month she received more glasses that were meant for someone else.

"They are supposed to go all over the U.S.," she said, pointing to one of the boxes. "There are so many different states and recipients, but they stuck a sticker over the top and sent it to me."

She says the first few times it was a couple of boxes, and each time it happened she says she tried to address the issue.

"Every time I would call them they were like, 'We're sorry for the inconvenience, we apologize, we're going to look into this, and we're going to fix it,'" Witter said. "But the next month, there were more packages and it kept happening."

She says the packages did stop for a couple of months this fall and she thought the problem was fixed... until this week.

"I just don't have time for this. I've already broken down 133 boxes and brought them down to recycling," she said. "When I came up from the recycling room, there were ten more boxes stacked up. I said, 'If any more show up, I'm going to go berserk.'"

The very next day she says three more boxes did show up, so she started sorting them and adding up their value.

"Let's just say it's over $3,000," she Witter said. "I just started organizing them because, I'm like, if you're not going to get back to me, I'm going to donate."

On Monday, Witter posted on Facebook that Target sent a representative to take the remaining packages, as well as the unbroken down boxes.
