Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has purchased a 12,310-square-foot lakefront home in Cornelius, N.C., for $2.8 million.

CORNELIUS, N.C. (AP) -- Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has purchased a 12,310-square-foot lakefront home in Cornelius, for $2.8 million.

The home is about 22 miles north of uptown Charlotte where the Bobcats play their home games and where Jordan owns a spacious condo. It's also the former home of drag racer Doug Herbert, NBC Charlotte reporter Tony Burbeck has learned.

Public records show the home, which had been foreclosed, was purchased Feb. 19 by the Jordan Family Gift Trust from First Community Bank.

The home is located on Lake Norman and the seventh hole of The Peninsula Golf Club. The listing states it features six bedrooms and eight bathrooms and a stunning panoramic lake views from almost every room.

The kitchen and family room are on the opposite side of the three-level house and also offer views of the water. The lower lake-level includes the entertainment and exercise areas with game tables and a dance floor. There is also a spa room and sauna nearby, and a home gym.

The estate was originally put on the market for $3,999,999 by Herbert and his wife, Ginger.

It is the latest real estate investment for Jordan.

Last year he purchased a 28,000-square foot home in Jupiter, Fla., for $12.8 million after selling his mansion in Chicago.
