Expert advice to keep your travel on track.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you’ve been to the airport recently, you know, travel is back in full swing. You’ve saved your hard-earned money and planned your trip for months. So it’s important everything goes smoothly and you know what to do if it doesn’t.

The experts at the Better Business Bureau created a checklist to follow before you say, “Bon voyage!”

Here are 5 tips for smart travel, according to the Better Business Bureau:

  1. Document check
Make sure everyone in your group has the appropriate identification needed to travel.
  2. Know policies
Before your flight gets delayed or canceled, know your specific airlines refund policies so you can act quickly and with confidence.
  3. Consider insurance
Travel insurance can be a good option to protect your trip but you have to make sure you know what the insurance does and does not cover before you purchase.
  4. Read fine print
This is crucial for you to find any added charges or “hidden fees” before you board.
  5. Be informed
Read up on the Department of Transportation’s website to know your rights as a traveler and what steps to take should plans go wrong.
