IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – An 85-year-old man from Mexico was arrested after deputies in Iredell County said he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old child.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a tip on March 20 in reference to the sexual assault of a child that allegedly occurred on March 15, 2018.
During an interview, the victim told detectives that 85-year-old Daniel Lopez Ruiz assaulted her and said the assault happened on March 15. Based on evidence obtained during the investigation, deputies obtained a felony arrest warrant for Ruiz.
He was charged with one count of felony indecent liberties with a child in connection with the investigation.
According to detectives, Ruiz resides in Mexico but came to Iredell County on March 12, 2018. He was given a $250,000 bond.
