Girl, 15, hurt after shots fired from vehicle in northwest Charlotte

"One of the first officers to arrive applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg as the bullet had struck the femoral artery, potentially saving her life," police said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 15-year-old girl was hurt after shots were fired from a vehicle in northwest Charlotte, police said.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of Mulberry Pond Drive near Blueberry Hollow Place.

Officers said the girl was standing with some other people when she was struck in the leg.

"One of the first officers to arrive applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg as the bullet had struck the femoral artery, potentially saving her life," police said.

The girl was taken to the hospital. No arrests were made at the time of the incident.

Police also said a man showed up at Atrium Health Urgent Care on Morehead St. around 8:55 p.m. with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators were trying to determine if the shootings were related.
