Man shot, killed in parking lot near Uptown Charlotte, police say

Medic initially responded to a reported cardiac arrest. When officers arrived, it was determined the victim had been shot.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was found shot to death in the parking lot of a Bojangles just outside Uptown Charlotte on Thursday, police said. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call to help Medic along West Trade Street around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, detectives said. Medic said the original call was for a reported cardiac arrest. It was later determined that a man, identified as 33-year-old Michael Beasley-Kanash had been shot, according to a CMPD spokesperson during a news conference.

No arrests have been made in connection with this shooting. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses may also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives.
