Homicide under investigation in east Charlotte, no suspects in custody

The incident happened in the 6000 block of Delta Crossing Lane. Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon service call at 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting homicide investigation is underway in the 6000 block of Delta Crossing Lane.

Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon service call at 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.

When officers arrived, they found a male with gunshot wounds outside of an apartment. 

Medic transported the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Police have identified him as 29-year-old Teaun Bates. 

His family has been notified of his death. 

At this time, no suspect information has been released.
