The suspect in the shooting of a State Highway Patrol trooper in Wilson County has been charged with attempted murder.
John David Jones, 36, was arrested Monday, and the attempted first-degree murder charge is added to his previous charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault on a law enforcement officer.
He was being held under a bond of over $1 million after he appeared in court for a preliminary hearing Tuesday morning.
The trooper shot, Daniel Harrell was released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
