Man dies after being shot outside university area gas station

Medic said the patient was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was shot and killed outside a gas station in northeast Charlotte Sunday evening, police said. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were called to the Shell gas station near the intersection of Mallard Creek Road and Carolina Lilly Lane a little after 6:30 Sunday evening. When police got to the scene, they found 36-year-old Patrick Alonzo Alston suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC. 

CMPD has not announced any arrests in the shooting and no suspect information has been released. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
