Man charged with second-degree murder following shooting in southwest Charlotte, police say

At this time, CMPD has not released the cause of death or if there is any suspect information.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in southwest Charlotte Monday night.

CMPD was called to a reported shooting on Orren Court in the Foxboro neighborhood around 9:45 p.m. When police got to the scene, they found 43-year-old Ever Danilo Reyes-Romero suffering from a gunshot wound in a car. Reyes-Romero was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, police arrested and charged 23-year-old Daquarius Quashon Connor with the murder of Reyes-Romero. Police said Connor was transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with second-degree murder.

The shooting is Charlotte's 52nd homicide of 2019. There were 57 homicides in all of 2018, according to CMPD.

"When we have disputes of any variety settled with violent acts such as this, the question, or the statement, is it's never worth it," said a CMPD officer at the scene.

Detectives have not determined if the shooting was a random incident.
