Mom, daughter arrested after receiving 11 pounds of pot in mail

Mom, daughter arrested for pot trafficking in Rowan Co.

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- A local mother and daughter were arrested after authorities say they had pot shipped to their home.

The Rowan County Sheriff's Office charged 28-year-old Alishia Plyler and 51-year-old Sarah Plyler with trafficking.

On January 16th, the Rowan County Sheriff's Office and the United States Postal Service, initiated an investigation into a suspicious package that was to be delivered to 203 Bonnie Lane in China Grove.

A federal search warrant was obtained for the package and it was found to contain 11 pounds of marijuana, valued at $22,000. The package originated in McAllen, Texas, and was addressed to a fictitious name, according to authorities.

Federal and local investigators conducted surveillance of 203 Bonnie Lane and subsequently delivered the package to the address.

After the package was received, a state issued search warrant was executed and investigators located the package at the address and identified Sarah Plyler and Alishia Plyler as the recipients.

Additional information and evidence was uncovered that showed that Sarah and Alishia Plyler had received previous packages containing marijuana, authorities said.

Sarah Plyler and Alishia Plyer were each charged with one count of trafficking marijuana by possession. Alishia Plyler was additionally charged with felonious maintaining a dwelling to keep/sell controlled substances.
