MONROE, N.C. — A woman who was attempting to get out of being arrested intentionally hit and injured two Monroe probation officers with her car before fleeing the scene. She had two small children in the car with her.
The Monroe Police Department responded to a call at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the North Carolina Probation and Parole Office concerning 33-year-old Tanae Ramsey, who hit two probation officers with her car.
Shortly after, calls came in about a reckless driver on W. Hwy 74 and the vehicle matched the one that Ramsey was driving at the time.
Ramsey crashed into two vehicles, grabbed two small children from the car and started running on W. Hwy 74.
Officers responded and found Ramsey running in a field at W. Hwy 74 and Rocky River Road. She had the children with her and she was immediately arrested.
One of the children had minor injuries. Both children were released to a family member. Neither of the drivers that Ramsey hit were injured.
Both probation officers are suffering from serious injuries and remain in the hospital at this time.
