One person dead after west Charlotte shooting Friday night

Officers said the call for service came in at 11:07 p.m. Friday night. When CMPD arrived to the scene, they located a male victim in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have confirmed one person is dead following a shooting in west Charlotte Friday night.

A homicide investigation is now underway in the 2700 block of Tuckaseegee Road.

Officers said the call for service came in at 11:07 p.m. Friday night. CMPD responded to an assist medic call and upon arrival, they located a male victim in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. 

Medic pronounced 48-year-old Richard William Carter Jr. dead at the scene. His family has been notified of his death.

No suspects have been arrested in this shooting. This is an ongoing, active investigation.
